The State of Things in America Today...

The other day, I was driving with my son, on our way home.  We had stopped at a stop light (the second car in the line up), when I noticed two young children, maybe ages 6 or 7 running across the street.  They were in the cross walk, I will give them that much.  However, there was a pick up truck turning left from the cross street.  The two boys just ran out in front of it without even looking.

The driver of the truck honked their horn... which was to be expected.  To this, the two boys turned around (still in the cross walk) and gave the driver their middle fingers while yelling at him 'F- off!'

I sat there, not believing what I was seeing... these two little boys had run out in front of the truck; which had the right of way... and acted like it was the driver who was doing something wrong.  This type of behaviour is something that I would expect from a teenager or older... NOT a 6 or 7 year old!

And... these kids were black.  I say this, not to be racist, or negative towards blacks... but, to express my thoughts on what is happening here in America.  This is the type of reaction that is happening everywhere now.  A black person does something wrong and is chided for their behavior, and they turn around and blame the person doing the chiding.  Many black people (mostly gang members and lower income citizens) have begun to believe that they are "above the law"... that they don't have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

They seem to think that they have the 'right' to behave any way they want.  When they are called out for their actions by those in charge, i.e. the police, supervisors, etc... they turn around and react violently.  I have to say that it seems as if, since the Black Lives Matter movement started with their shenanigans, the  average black community feels that they are better than everyone else.

These two small children are just one example... and it's sad.

Life is like...

Life is like a bowl of M&M's...

Different colors all mixed together.
Now, if we could just learn something from M&M's...
you don't see them fighting each other.
They may be different colors, but inside,
they are all made up of the same stuff.
Let's be more like M&Ms....

To All Those With Aberrant Brains!

The Complete Works of Friedrich Nietzsche : Translated by J. M. Kennedy circa 1874

The mussel is crooked inside and rough outside • it is only when we hear its deep note after blowing into it that we can begin to esteem it at its true value.—(Ind. Spruche, ed Bothlingk, 1 335)

An ugly-looking-wind instrument • but we must first blow into it

Don't Stay in School!

What I learned in school vs. What I didn't learn in school.

iTunes: | Bandcamp:

I can't remember feeling so passionate whilst writing something in ages. I absolutely love a lot of the subjects I mention in this - astronomy, particle physics, pure maths... but I hate that everyone is forced to learn them. It should be a choice. There are a million other things wrong with education, but this one stood out as the most obvious and most insane.

The point of this song is to get people talking - if you share it, use #DontStayInSchool so we can all get involved in the conversation.

The Citizen-Soldier: Using Military Service as a Requirement for Citizenship

Military service by qualified individuals as pertaining to the acquisition of U.S. citizenship is a long held tradition, but at this time is only a single option available at this time to perspective immigrants.  While the concept of obtaining citizenship through military service is not a new one, and existing legislature and regulations already provide for this path of entry, it has never been a mainstay method or prerequisite for obtaining citizenship.   This proposed case study will serve as an outline as to the formulation, structure, and implementation of military service as a basic requirement for any immigrant seeking citizenship and qualified by age or physical limitation to enter the service.

Risk Assessment Planning

The purpose of a risk assessment plan is that of identifying, assessing risks, developing and evaluating potential strategies to mitigate those risks, and finally implementing procedures to protect from the harm that potential threats pose to a population.  By utilizing historic disasters, current science and research, as well as past occurrences of natural and human-caused hazards, the state of New Jersey has defined a strategy to provide direction and guidance when researching vulnerabilities and implementing any current and/or future mitigation projects (NJ Office of Emergency Management, 2006).
The New Jersey terrorism risk assessment portion of the 2014 Hazard Mitigation Plan did an excellent job in addressing a full gamut of possible threats.  While this plan did seem to focus more on explaining the possible threats and the risks that they pose to the state of New Jersey, it did not seem to have many actual mitigation strategies in place to deal with the threats.  The plan could have covered this area more fully (State of New Jersey 2014 Hazard Mitigation Plan, 2014).
Vulnerability assessments were lacking in breadth and depth; the report simply stated that the entire population was at risk and that the areas with the greatest danger of exposure were those which housed the most people in one area at the same time.  Vulnerabilities which could cause the greatest impact on the area's infrastructure and the well-being of the populace as well as the consequence of an attack on these areas were identified.   However, once again, there are no strategies with which to address these vulnerabilities established (State of New Jersey 2014 Hazard Mitigation Plan, 2014).
